Applying the clear topcoat is your final step!
Polyurethane for floors is a durable, protective clear finish
that is specifically formulated for use on hardwood floors.
It gives long lasting protectio and beauty to floors in a super
fast-drying, easy to apply formula that levels to a smooth, even
sheen.
- Before use, be sure to read all label directions and cautions.
- Stir polyurethane for floors to rotate the product from the bottom to
the top of the can. You will not need to stir again if all of your coats
will be completed in one day. Do not shake, as this will cause bubbles in your
finish.
- Plan your application so that you don't finish yourself into a corner!
Make sure that you start, for example, in the far corner of the room, and
work so that you will end up at an exit.
- Pour the product into a paint tray and dip your applicator into the tray.
- Start along a wall, and apply the clear finish. Apply a thin coat using
a lambswool or synthetic pad applicator, or a natural bristle brush.
Maintain a wet edge to avoid lap marks, preferably overlapping into the finish
you previously applied by several inches. Be sure to feather in your start and
stop places with your applicator.
- Let dry at least 3-4 hours until film is no longer tacky, and can be walked on
without damaging the surface.
Note: When walking on the floor, wear soft, flat shoes.
- No sanding is required.
Note: If film is allowed to dry for more than 12 hours,
sand lightly with 220 grit sandpaper, then wipe the floor with a cloth moistened
with mineral spirits to remove all dust.
- Apply a second coat of polyurethane for floors following the same steps
as you used for the first coat.
- If the floor was not stained, apply a third coat of polyurethane for floors.
